What to expect
Temporomandibular joint/TMJ physiotherapy is the treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction within the jaw.
Here are a few common symptoms/causes of TMJ dysfunction we can address with physiotherapy:
Clicking or popping jaw
Pins and needles
Teeth grinding [Bruxism}
A comprehensive assessment is imperative to provide an optimal treatment plan and the ultimate resolution of your concerns. This will include assessment and treatment both inside and out of the mouth.
During your consult, we will look to explore the cause of your jaw dysfunction, which will often include further assessent of your head, neck and torso.
Manual therapy and soft tissue release will be combined to restore normal movement and exercises may be prescribed for continued improvement.
