What to expect
Our physiotherapist, Annie Tey, has extensive experience working with infants and children and can provide paediatric physiotherapy consultations for infants and toddlers right through to primary school age children.
Below are a few examples of the paediatric issues Annie can help with:
Gross motor development concerns
Head shape (plagiocephaly/brachycephaly)
Torticollis or “wry neck” - abnormal, asymmetrical head or neck position
For concerns with gross motor development, Annie will prescribe specific exercises to help reach relevant developmental milestones. Measurements of head shape can be taken in instances of plagiocephaly and brachycephaly which can help determine whether a helmet would be beneficial or simply exercise coupled with activity modification would be adequate in improving head shape. For issues around torticollis, Annie will work through a range of stretches with parents or caregivers in combination with exercise to help stretch the muscles and correct the neck position.
By the end of the session you will have a better understanding of how to manage your child’s concerns, and a tailored plan for ongoing management. Our paediatric consultations are conducted between 12-1pm each day (if this time does not suit you, please call us to arrange a suitable alternative).
