Women's Health Physiotherapy
What to expect
Our initial women's health consultation with Annie Tey, our women's health physiotherapist, is for 45 minutes and it involves a comprehensive assessment.
Below are a few examples of the pregnancy issues Annie can help you with:
Pregnancy related pains (e.g. lower back pain, thoracic pain, sacroiliac join dysfunction or pubic symphonic pain)
Pelvic floor weakness (including stress & urgency incontinence)
Pain from hypertonic pelvic floor (e.g. vaginismus)
Abdominal Separation (i.e. rectus diastasis)
For concerns involving pelvic floor weakness, an internal examination of the pelvic floor muscles may provide more accurate information regarding pelvic floor activation patterns, strength, endurance and tone. If you do no wish to have an internal examination performed Annie can use Real-time Ultrasound as an alternative.
By the end of this session you will be well-informed with regards to the origins of your concerns and have a tailored plan with how to manage it.
It is likely you will be given a home exercise program to help to encourage further improvement of your issues.
