How you can improve your flexibility, posture and fitness

Feeling a few aches and pains? Sitting down a bit too much and losing your posture? Perhaps you’re looking for a new way to exercise that is mindful of any muscle niggles or pain. Or maybe you’ve injured yourself and you need to get back into the things you enjoy most.

Structured strength, conditioning and rehabilitation classes are fantastic at supporting whatever health and fitness goals you have in mind. They can be done as a stand-alone activity, or done in conjunction with any hands-on physiotherapy treatment you may need.

What are Strength, Conditioning and Rehabilitation classes?

Firstly, they’re a little different to your average group fitness classes at the gym or Pilates studios – they’re a small (max 4 people) physiotherapist-lead group class.

During the class, you’ll work through an individually designed program, created specifically for your needs and goals that will allow you to get the most out of each session.

What kind of equipment do you use?

In your program you will be using both Pilates equipment (including Reformers, Combo-Chair and Wall-Tower) and gym equipment (including free weights, functional strength equipment and cable-machines). This combination will allow you to utilize all the unique benefits of functioning strengthening and Pilates.

When and how frequently should I attend?

To achieve the best results possible, we recommend attending weekly classes.

How do I get started?

Step 1

The first step is coming in for an initial consultation. In this session the physiotherapist will learn more about you and your body’s strengths and weaknesses, together with any current and/or previous injuries.

This understanding will help us to develop your individual program that will focus on your specific strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation goals.

Step 2

The second step will see you work through your strength, conditioning and rehabilitation physiotherapy program in a 1:1 environment with our physiotherapist. They will guide you through the program, teaching you how to set up and use the equipment while refining and modifying your exercises to maximise you results.

This typically takes 2-4 sessions to ensure you are safe and confident to join one of our classes.

Step 3

Once you’re familiar with the exercises in your program, you can then move into our small group strength, conditioning and rehabilitation classes.

Each class consists of a maximum of 4 people (including you!), is outcome driven and focusses on flexibility, core and functional strength to ensure you reach your specific goals.

Our smaller classes allow your physiotherapist to ensure they can provide appropriate supervision, modification and progression of your program.

Can I claim on my private health?

Your physiotherapy strength, conditioning and rehabilitation classes may be claimable on private health cover. This will depend on your level of cover and whether the goals of your program meet your health fund providers’ requirements.
